How Betting Works

This guide explains the betting mechanics of the Bettors platform, including how to place bets, how odds are calculated, and how winnings are determined.

Betting Model

Bettors uses a pool-based betting system:

• All bets are placed into a pool for each prediction

• 99% of all bets go to the pool (1% platform fee)

• Multipliers are calculated based on the distribution of bets in the pool

• Winners share the pool proportionally to their bet amount

Bet Types

For each prediction, you can place one of two bet types:

• For: You believe the prediction will come true

• Against: You believe the prediction will not come true

Placing a Bet

1. Select a Prediction:

   • Browse the available predictions on the "Live" page

   • Check the prediction details, current pool size, and multipliers

2. Choose a Position:

   • Click either "Bet For" or "Against" button depending on your prediction

3. Enter Bet Amount:

   • The popup will allow you to enter your bet amount (0.5 SOL minimum, 10 SOL maximum)

   • You can use the "MAX" button to quickly set the maximum allowed amount

4. Review Details:

   • Check the current multiplier for your position

   • Review the potential winnings based on current odds

5. Confirm Transaction:

   • Click "Place Bet" to initiate the transaction

   • Approve the transaction in your Solana wallet

   • Once confirmed, your bet will be added to the pool

Understanding Multipliers

Multipliers are dynamic and change as more people place bets:

• Formula: Multiplier = Total Pool Size ÷ Amount Bet on Position

• Example: If the total pool is 100 SOL and 25 SOL is bet on "For", the "For" multiplier is 4x

The multiplier shown when you place your bet is locked in for your bet, regardless of how the pool changes afterward.

Bet Resolution

When a prediction reaches its end time:

1. The betting phase closes and no new bets can be placed

2. The outcome is determined by platform moderators based on verifiable evidence

3. The winning side's bettors receive their share of the pool

Claiming Winnings

If your bet wins:

• Winnings are automatically sent to your connected wallet

• You'll receive your original bet amount plus your winnings based on your locked-in multiplier

• You can view all your betting history and winnings in the "My Bets" section

Example Scenario

Let's walk through an example:

1. A prediction has a total pool of 10 SOL

2. 8 SOL is bet on "For" and 2 SOL is bet on "Against"

3. The multipliers are:

   • "For": 1.25x (10 ÷ 8)

   • "Against": 5x (10 ÷ 2)

4. You bet 1 SOL on "Against" with a 5x multiplier

5. If the prediction turns out to be false:

   • You win 5 SOL (your 1 SOL bet × 5x multiplier)

6. If the prediction turns out to be true:

   • You lose your 1 SOL bet

Betting Limits

• Minimum bet: 0.5 SOL

• Maximum bet: 10 SOL per transaction

• Time limit: Bets must be placed before the prediction end time
